Donor branch

Creating long-lasting relationships

The first and largest branch of One Child, the Donor Branch, was established in 2017 and was the brainchild of One Child director Amila De Alwis. Similar to the universal child benefit upliftment strategy proposed by UNICEF, our Donor Branch recognises that one way to make Sri Lanka a better place and to lift entire communities out of poverty is to make education more accessible to children. The Donor Branch connects academically capable children with donors who are able to assist them financially. However, the donor-recipient relationships facilitated by One Child are highly unique as we understand that money is just half the solution without the right guidance. So our children gain not only a sponsor but also a mentor who will guide them, both in an academic sense as well as about how to navigate life in general.
